Dr. Naveed Hussain of MMANTC patents the solar radiation furnace
Malegaon (Story by SN Ansari) Solar energy is the energy obtained from sunlight. Solar energy is a wonderful natural resource that is used to generate electricity. Every day, the world receives enough solar radiation to generate enough electricity to power the world for weeks or months. Solar energy is now used in almost every industry, including power generation, electronics and electricals, solar power generators, solar cookers, solar heaters, solar vehicles, and other items.
Dr. Naveed Hussain (MMANTC Dean Research) has designed a solar radiation furnace that converts solar energy into thermal energy. The practical model was officially registered with the Indian Patent Office in Mumbai on May 6, 2022. This complete furnace was designed in the workshop of MMANTC, also known as Mansoora Engineering College, Malegaon district Nashik (Maharashtra).
Solar Radiation Furnace:
A solar radiation furnace deflects the sun's rays through a circular plate made of aluminum metal and collects them at a specific point, generating thermal energy that gradually raises the temperature. At environmental conditions, it reached 950 degrees Celsius. This furnace's circular plate measures 6 feet in diameter, and 1 foot in length, and weighs 14 kg. It is a portable model with wheels that can be easily moved from one location to another.
Applications of Solar Radiation Furnace:
• It can be used for large-scale cooking stoves and in industries to generate very high temperatures and melt purposes.
• Its use allows metals and plastics to easily melt into any shape.
• It can also be used as a solar cooker for cooking in colleges and schools, as well as to heat water and generate electricity.
Dr. Naveed Hussain's Short Bio:
Dr. Naveed Hussain is from Chennai, Tamil Nadu. He has awarded his M.Tech and Ph.D. degrees in Metallurgy from the Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay (IIT-B), a prestigious government institution in India. Later, he worked in the corporate sector for a while and lived in America. He has twenty-two years of industry and academic experience. He is currently the Dean of research at the Maulana Mukhtar Ahmad Nadvi Technical Campus (MMANTC), Malegaon.
The JMES administration provided financial support for the Solar Radiation Furnace's construction and patent registration. Assistant Professor Adeel Ansari contributed to the design of this boiler. The final-year students of mechanical engineering also contributed to this project. Mr. Arshad Mukhtar (Chairman, JMES), Mr. Rashid Mukhtar (Secretary, JMES), Dr. Aqueel Ahmad Shah (Principal, MMANTC), Dr. Md Azhar (Principal, Polytechnic), Dr. Salman Baig (Dean Academics), Dr. Dilawar Hussain (Dean IQAC), and the entire MMANTC staff congratulated and appreciated Dr. Naveed Husain and his team.
MMANTC and JMES:
The Maulana Mukhtar Ahmed Nadvi Technical Campus (MMANTC) is run by the Jamia Muhammadiyah Education Society (JMES) Mumbai's, Maharashtra. JMES is an established religious and modern educational institution in India. It is affiliated with Pune's Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU). It is also acknowledged by the All-India Council of Technical Education (AICTE) in Delhi.
